Each park offers a uniquely different experience - not just in the reserve itself, but in the variety of wildlife, the distinct atmosphere of our incredible eco-lodges, and the animals you’re likely to encounter (though every single one is home to magnificent Royal Bengal Tigers!). Our first stop is Tadoba National Park, known for some of the most breathtaking, and plentiful, tiger sightings in the world.

Then, we'll head to Pench National Park, the very inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. Finally, we will end our journey in Kahna, where rolling meadows, dense bamboo forests, and misty ravines weave together into a scene straight out of a storybook. Along the way, you'll encounter a variety of fascinating animals, including Indian Leopards, Sloth Bears, Wild Dogs, Sambar, Jackals, Langurs, Indian Guar, Striped Hyena, Wild Boar, Mongoose, Indian Fox, Macaques Monkeys, Marsh Crocodile, Monitor Lizard, Four-Horned Antelope, Indian Wolf, and hundreds of bird species.Just a small listing of the diverse amount of birds we can see on our adventures include Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Osprey, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Indian Pitta, Honey Buzzard, Bronze Winged Jacana, Cottom Pygmy Geese, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Brahminy Starling, Hooded Oriole, Indian Roller, and a variety of species of owls, woodpeckers, and flycatchers! Join us for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the beauty and wonder of India's wildlife parks all while growing your photography skills.
Our journey puts wildlife, the planet, and people at the forefront. Our beautiful eco-lodges have been showered with numerous awards for their unwavering commitment to sustainability. Constructed with a focus on local and green architecture, they provide the ultimate luxury experience amongst native plants and forests. Two naturalists will accompany us throughout our adventure, and they will help us spot wildlife and share their expansive knowledge about the remarkable local biodiversity. Our local chefs embrace farm-to-table initiatives, creating a variety of delicious local dishes made from produce grown in the extraordinary organic gardens on their property.

Day 3
Today we will have an early wake up call for our game drive. Meeting for a quick coffee, tea and biscuits, we will head out before the sunrise. Tadoba National Park is one of the best places in the world to see tigers in the wild! This beautiful jungle sits on hilly terrain and is not just home to tigers but also to Sloth Bears, Indian Leopards, Wild Dogs and Indian Guar - to name a few. Hear the sounds of the Peacocks practicing their dance in the morning light while we seek out tigers and bears. Keep an eye on the sky for the Crested Hawk Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Paradise Fly Catcher, Indian Roller, Hooded Oriole, and a wide variety of other stunning birds. After a few hours of game driving, we will stop to enjoy our breakfast so that we can continue on looking for wildlife in the morning light. We will return to our lodge with time to download cards, go for a swim or just relax. After another delicious lunch at the lodge, we will head out for our evening drive to look for wildlife through the golden light before sunset. We will return to the lodge in time for our dinner made of local ingredients mostly from the organic vegetable farm on site.
Day 4
Today is another early wake up for our game drive in Tadoba National Park. We will spend all morning in the park, arriving back to our lodge for lunch. After lunch you will have time to meet one on one with your instructors to go through your images and learn how to take your photography to a different level.

Day 5
Today we start the day with another morning Safari in Tadoba National park. We will return to the hotel for lunch then head to Pench which is a 5 hour drive arriving in time for dinner.
Day 6
Today we will wake up early, enjoy coffee, tea and biscuits and then head out to explore Pench National Park!
The stunning Pench National Park is a place where reality meets fantasy, as you wander through towering teak, mahua, and bamboo forests that inspired The Jungle Book. The park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including tigers, leopards, bears, deer, and wild dogs - the adoption of Mowgli in Kipling's story. Bird enthusiasts will also be thrilled with over 210 species of birds, including migratory birds. It's a nature lover's paradise!
We will break for breakfast while out in the park, then head back to the lodge and take some time to download our images and relax. After a group lunch, you can use this time to go through your images, enjoy a swim, tour the large organic gardens, meet with our naturalist, or experience a photo session at their bird hide. Feel free to use this time for any questions you may have for Kristi, Mark and/or Forest. We are here to make sure you grow as a photographer!
Day 7
Today we will head out for another game drive in Pench National Park after we fuel up with coffee, tea, and biscuits. We will keep our eyes opened for stunning bengal tigers, elusive leopards, and sloth bears in their natural habitat. We will enjoy breakfast out in the park and continue exploring this amazing area looking for wildlife before heading back to the lodge for a break and another fantastic lunch prepared by our local chef.
After lunch we will head to Satpura National Park. Our resort sits alongside the Denwa River. Satpura is known for common sloth bear and leopard sightings. Their tiger population has been increasing with frequent sightings of them swimming in the Denwa River. Satpura is famous for its Indian Giant Squirrels, which I personally can't wait to see again, they are really colorful!
Day 8
We will begin our time in Satpura by taking a boat across the Denwa River, a quiet and beautiful crossing that sets the tone for the experience ahead. On the other side, we will step into our safari vehicles and head out into the park for our morning jeep safari.
After returning to the lodge, the afternoon will be at leisure. This is a perfect time to rest, download images, enjoy the pool, or simply take in the peaceful surroundings. Later in the day, we will head back out for a sunset boat safari along the Denwa River, offering a completely different perspective of the landscape and its wildlife.
Day 9
We will start the day early with coffee, tea, and biscuits before heading out to cross the Denwa River. From there, we will take a boat across to meet our safari vehicles and begin our morning jeep safari as the forest comes to life.
After a few hours of exploring, we will return to the lodge to enjoy lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, we will head out once again for another jeep safari, giving us more time to explore Satpura’s diverse landscapes and search for its incredible wildlife.
Day 10
This morning, we’ll make our way to the airport with memory cards full of incredible moments, new friendships that feel like old ones, and a collection of stories you’ll carry with you long after this journey ends. We will enjoy an early breakfast together, then head to the airport for our flight from Bhopal to Delhi. We can expect a 4-hour drive to the airport. Once we arrive in Delhi, we will head back to our luxury hotel with new friends and lots of new memories.
Day 11
Today we will enjoy a leisurely breakfast at our hotel before you are driven to the New Delhi airport for your flight back home.

FAQ
-
Is April good time for photographing tigers?
April is the high season for tiger sightings, as April brings hot weather and with that the tigers like to come out and hang close to water, sometimes even taking an afternoon swim.
-
I am not a photographer; can I still attend? or I have a partner who isn't a photographer, can they attend?
Yes of course, you can attend (and your partner)! We have had many non-photographers on our trips - even a few who have gone on repeat trips. You will have a little extra free time at the lodges while we do classes and one-on-ones. There is always a lot to do at the lodges, from going for a swim, enjoying a nature walk, touring the organic gardens, enjoying the butterfly gardens, relaxing at the restaurant, or just hanging at the bar. The biggest difference is that our group spends time with the wildlife, watching behaviors and observing. Non-photographers have expressed that they have enjoyed this and even learn more and gain more appreciation for the animals this way.
-
What animals might we see?
Tigers, Indian Leopards, Sloth Bears, Wild Dogs, Sambar, Jackals, Langurs, Indian Guar, Striped Hyena, Wild Boar, Mongoose, Indian Fox, Macaques Monkeys, Marsh Crocodile, Monitor Lizard, Four-Horned Antelope, and many more. In addition, there are hundreds of bird species! Just a small listing of the diverse amount of birds we can see on our adventures include Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Osprey, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Indian Pitta, Hooded Oriole, Indian Roller, and a variety of species of owls, woodpeckers, and flycatchers!
-
I am a birder, can I join?
While we are not a pure birding trip, we do love our birds - and birders love our trips! If we have enough birders (minimum of 3) we will give them their own vehicle. That said, we definitely stop and watch the birds. Some birders like to check their sightings off on a list. Although there is certainly time for this, we are not the type of tour that goes quickly to tick boxes, as we focus on animal behaviors and great photography. We’ve found that our bird-loving guests have a contagious enthusiasm, often getting fellow travelers excited about birding - and even inspiring new birders to join our future trips
-
What birds might we see?
Crested Bunting, Painted Stork, White-naped woodpecker, Jungle Owlet, River Terns, Grey Headed Fish Eagle, Crested hawk eagle, Crested serpent eagle, Indian peafowl, White-rumped shama, Lesser whistling duck, Asian Paradise Fly Catcher, Spot Billed Ducks, Purple moorhen, White Breathed Water Hen, Hooded Oriole, White Throated Kingfisher, Open Billed Stork, White Throated Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Indian Roller, Yellow Footed Green Period, Honey Buzzard, White Eyed Buzzard, Bronze Winged Jacana, Cottom Pygmy Geese, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Brahminy Starling, Pied Starling, Rufous Tree Pie, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Red Naped Ibis, Lesser Goldenback Woodpecker, Ruddy Shelduck, Indian grey hornbill (to name a few!)
-
How do I get there?
You’ll fly in and out of New Delhi, India for this photography workshop. After arriving in the capital, we’ll begin our travels together with a flight to Nagpur, where our journey through three remarkable tiger reserves begins. Each location offers unique landscapes, wildlife, and photographic opportunities. We’ll then fly out of Bhopal as a group and return to New Delhi, where our time together concludes, and you’ll catch your flight home!
-
How physically demanding are the wildlife safaris
Not very - our safari vehicles will be doing all the work! You can simply sit back and enjoy being driven through stunning landscapes as we search for wildlife. It’s an immersive experience that requires minimal effort (but offers maximum reward). There will be heat, so make sure you stay hydrated.
-
I have dietary requirements/preferences; will that be a problem?
Not at all! Vegan and vegetarian cuisine is a specialty of our lodge chefs, and they’re also happy to accommodate any food allergies, gluten-free needs, or other dietary preferences. Beyond that, they are incredibly thoughtful and creative, ensuring that every single guest enjoys delicious, beautifully-prepared meals made with fresh, local ingredients (many harvested from their organic gardens on the property!) that honor and respect each individual’s dietary choices or restrictions.
-
What about weather?
April brings with it hot temperatures in India, so the tigers venture out to the waterways more often, helping with increased tiger sightings. While our open vehicle offers a lot of relief as we drive, and our rooms have great AC units, we still suggest that you prepare for the hot weather. We suggest bringing electrolytes to put in the filtered water provided - and to drink a plenty of it while there. Tadoba will have the highest temperatures (it may reach 100 degrees or more), but it will cool off as our trip progresses. A hat and sunglasses are also recommended.
-
How many guests are in each vehicle?
There will be a maximum of four photographers in each vehicle, so you will always have a window seat. The vehicles are open on top, for maximum visibility (so bring a hat and sunscreen!). There are also small beanbags available in the vehicles, and you are always welcome to bring an empty bag that we can fill there, if you would like more options.
-
How much gear can I carry on the drives?
You will have a free middle seat next to you. This space is shared for our cameras and day bags. We ask on this trip that you carry your camera and a small camera bag or backpack that will fit under your legs or in the shared middle seat. There isn't enough space for you to bring a large camera bag for the game drives.
-
What are the luggage restrictions for the domestic flights?
Our flights offer a free baggage allowance of up to 7 kg for hand baggage and 15 kg for checked-in baggage for domestic flights. You can pay extra for additional weight in your checked luggage.
-
Will we have Internet and Phone service?
The lodges will have Wi-Fi services. Kristi has found that she can often get reception with her international T-Mobile plan while traveling (check with your provider before you go to ensure you can access the international plan properly once there). We are happy to provide a number that has access (in the case of an emergency only!) to any contacts back home. While on Safari, none of the parks allow cell phones.
-
What happens if there is a medical emergency?
One of the drivers can help take you to seek medical care. We do require that everyone has medical insurance. If this is a concern, I do recommend talking to your insurance company about what it provides. Some policy will even do medical evacuations so you can get treated at home.
-
Any recommendation for travel insurance?
We use Allianz Global policy.
-
Any shots or vaccines?
We recommend consulting your travel doctor to discuss any vaccinations or medications that may be advised for your trip. For a general overview, you can also visit the CDC’s Traveler’s Health section for India, which outlines current recommendations and health precautions. Your healthcare provider will be able to guide you based on your personal health history and travel plans.
-
What about Visas?
A visa is required to enter India. For the most up-to-date information, please visit travel.state.gov or the official Indian visa website. If you're applying for a single-entry visa, please note that you can only submit your application within 30 days of your arrival date.
We’ve created a document with tips to guide you through the application process, and we’re happy to recommend a reliable international visa processing service if you’d like additional support.
