Some of you know, I hardly ever do maternity shoots, I have never really been the maternal type. This shoot was definitely a great exception! Laura, wedding planner extraordinaire with Events in the City is just so beautiful, and great to be around, that I couldn’t resist. I had an amazing time, and always do, just hanging out with Laura. Her excitement about her first child was just beautiful to see and capture. Thank you for being such an awesome person and great friend, I can’t wait to meet your baby!

I have always loved and hated speaking. I get so nervous, but then again, I love it! I love stories, hey it is one of the main reason’s I am a photographer, visual storytelling. So speaking gives me the opportunity to teach through stories. I was speaking before shooting weddings, it has been that long. I have spoke for colleges, high schools, elementary schools, photographers, and coming next week I am very excited to speak to a group of talented women wedding professionals, the Womens Wedding Network (WWN).

Here is the description from WWN: “We have a very interesting speaker presenting the topic “Women with Courage: Traveling & Living Abroad” Photographer Kristi Odom , Six Continents, a Girl and a Camera will describe her experiences traveling abroad alone as she photographed different cultures around the world. If you have not heard her stories or met her before you wonโ€™t want to miss this.”

Let me know if you would like to attend and I can send you the RSVP. The date is Jan 12th from 11:30-1:30 in Gainsville Virginia. I am really excited!

Below are some pictures from my last talk to a talented group of local photographers, DC SMUG meetup. A big thank you to Astrid and Julie for the pictures below, and a big thank you to SMUGmug for the opportunity to speak about photography!

Wow, what a year! Shooting a wedding to me isn’t just a job, it is a privileged. To be the one chosen to capture and create a family heirloom is a huge responsibility and yet an honor. It makes me feel very special that so many wonderful people have chosen me to be part of their wedding day. So a big thank you to all my wonderful couples of 2010! I wish you many years of happiness and lots more smiles. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

2010 was the most successful year yet for my studio. I was nervous about my move to DC. I love Atlanta, and still love shooting there and all my Georgia clients. Moving a company is hard, and to have my most successful year to date one year after my move, makes me smile. 2010 brought me all over the world. I shot in 7 states and one district (Texas, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, DC, and Georgia) had 3 out of country shoots (Ireland, France, and London), then-with another photographer- lead a workshop in Uganda. A huge thank you to all the amazing second shooters that have provided me great work and inspiration- Thu, Astrid, Chris, Debi, Kristen, Natalie, Sharon- you guys are awesome. Another thank you to all the mentors I have in the area, you guys have helped me beyond anything I could have imagined (you know who you are). I can’t wait to see what 2011 brings ๐Ÿ™‚

So enjoy, and thank you for reading my blog ๐Ÿ™‚
